Ghost Recon Wildlands Special Operation 4 brings a new PvE mode next week

Ghost Recon Wildlands Special Operation 4, the final update for year 2, will feature a new PvE mode "that will test your endurance," with a new outfit waiting for those who are able to get the job done. There will also be a new class added to the Ghost War PvP mode and two new maps, and an adjustable "Time of Day" option for the solo campaign and Ghost Mode. Challenge Seasons will be changed to Daily Challenges—three Solo, one Task Force, and one Community—and Prestige Credit rewards will be inc

The GameZone Podcast Ep. 5: Activision and Deciphering Kingdom Hearts 3

On the fifth episode of The GameZone Podcast, Cade, Matt, and Mike break down Activision’s recent earnings call which resulted in massive layoffs despite a successful quarter, new tidbits about Call of Duty 2019, and the future of their publisher. In the second half of the podcast, Cade and Mike also talk briefly about Metro Exodus and dive into Kingdom Hearts III’s incredibly absurd plot which results in a bit of insanity and stupid questions about the Kingdom Hearts lore. You can listen to it

New Apex Legends leak uncovers new Survival game mode, characters and abilities coming soon

Apex Legends may have only launched two weeks ago but we’re already eagerly anticipating the first major content drop from developer Respawn Entertainment. Is Apex Legends going full on Battle Royale / Hunger Games? In fact, there’s also mention of a full replay / spectator mode making its way to Apex Legends for the main event too. Data mining is an inaccurate science, but this information haul suggests that Respawn is either actively working these elements into Apex Legends for the future or h

The Epic Store has an offline mode now, development roadmap coming soon

Two basic features were absent at the launch of the Epic Games Store: cloud saving, which is supposed to come soon, and the ability to play games offline. I can't find a way to manually switch to offline mode, but try this: close the Epic launcher (it doesn't seem to matter if you're signed in or not), disconnect from the internet, and launch it again. It'll let you know that it can't connect, and will give you the option to skip sign-in. Do that, and you should still be able to launch installed

Bioware says ‘we’re definitely not done with Mass Effect’

“We’re definitely not done with Mass Effect," says Darrah. We could pull on the threads we put down with Andromeda; we could pull on threads from Mass Effect 3. In addition to launching Anthem and supporting it as a living game, Bioware also appears to be working on a new Dragon Age game. RPG systems had to be constructed from scratch to support the kind of story-driven game Bioware is famous for. Imagine a new Mass Effect game built with new technology and a less fraught production phase.

Apex Legends may one day land on your phone

Battle royale free-to-play game Apex Legends has become a hit on consoles and PC since its launch a little over a week ago, and it may soon land on mobile devices too. I also expect that this game will have tremendous value in Asia, and we're in conversations about that." It's unlikely we'd see crossplay support between console, PC and mobile considering how differently the games would control. Wilson's words sound like the company is at the early stages of development for mobile, so that means

Apex Legends could soon get Solo and Duos modes

Respawn's surprise hit battle royale Apex Legends only supports play in squads of three, which is a little unusual given that the other big-name games in the genre—Fortnite, PUBG, Blackout—offer solo and duo play as well as squads. But if the information dug up by Fortnite dataminer ShiinaBR (who is apparently now branching into Apex Legends) is correct, solo and duo modes are on the way to Apex, too. I just posted my first Apex Legends leak. I'm not saying I've done that, by the way, but I'm no

Neill Blomkamp hints at involvement with Anthem

District 9 director Neill Blomkamp has certainly been making the rounds recently. Just last week we reported that he visited Creative Assembly's studio for a look at their new but so-far-unannounced FPS game and now it seems he has some involvement in Anthem, if a tweet this afternoon is anything to go by. #anthemgame 11, 2019While we have no way of knowing what the tweet is referring to specifically, fans are putting forward any number of suggestions, from a f

Firefox could soon block cryptominers and fingerprinters

Firefox could soon protect your PC from cryptominers and fingerprinting techniques (which follow you around the web when you use different browsers on the same computer). As Bleeping Computer reports, Mozilla has been considering ways to block these threats since May 2018, and intended to implement a solution in Firefox 63, but such a feature was nowhere to be seen when version 63 appeared in October. In a recent bug report, developer Johann Hoffman posted a mockup illustrating how cryptomining

Chainsaw wolves to death in this upcoming… train simulator?

As you can see above, the trailer for Trans-Siberian Railway Simulator looks like a trailer for a train simulator. There's a train, some nice sectional views, and interactive first-person controls. That you're apparently smuggling contraband on your train is the first indication there's more to it than being just another train simulator, however. I like when survival elements creep into other genres, and a train sim with survival features sounds like a fun idea. Trans-Siberian Railway Simulator
