Our first glimpse of the Monster Hunter film surprisingly isn’t terrible

The first on-set photographs of the upcoming Monster Hunter movie were alarming. It turns out those pictures showed the team of soldiers before they fall through a portal into the big monster dimension. I hope the movie leans in even more and commits to Monster Hunter's silliness. If the filmmakers have passed on the opportunity to include an extended Palico cooking montage then I will be sorely disappointed. Monster Hunter is out on September 4 2020.

The Gears of War movie will be set in an alternate reality but will still be on Sera and involve “certain characters”

The Gears of War movie is hoping to change that, and it’s planning to do so in a couple of very interesting and potentially divisive ways. For one thing, the Gears movie isn’t going to simply retrace the steps of the Gears of War games and, for another, it’s going to be set in an alternate reality away from the events of the series. During an interview with IGN, The Coalition’s Rod Fergusson has allowed a first peek behind the curtain at the process behind the Gears of War movie. He reveals that

How the director of Ghostbusters crossed the streams of politics and comedy

Three weeks ago, Ghostbusters editor Sheldon Kahn discovered an early workprint of the 1984 comedy. Because of time constraints, no wide visual effects shots (and barely any visual effects at all) were finished. Visual effects — involving men-in-suits, miniatures, matte paintings, and other techniques — all fell to a new studio headed by veteran Richard Edlund. Edlund is quoted in the book Ghostbusters: The Complete Visual History saying, “[Reitman] wanted to add like a hundred shots. The intent

Gears of War Movie Is Set in an Alternate Reality

The Gears of War movie, like most video game adaptations, has been struggling through development since Universal Pictures licensed it in 2016. According to Fergusson, the Gears of War movie will be set in an alternate reality. Fergusson explains, “In order for the movie to be successful, it has to be a great movie first and a Gears movie second.” If the film was dependent on the Gears of War video game franchise’s storytelling, that limits the ways the Gears movie can stand on its own – and vic

Why The Avengers video game has the same superheroes as the movie

The Avengers video game was one of the most anticipated announcements ahead of E3 2019. Marvel’s Avengers’ superheroes look like knockoff versions of the original films’ stars. In the comics, the Avengers has been composed of a variety of superheroes. Briggs confirms Marvel allowed developer Crystal Dynamics to tell its own story in a separate Marvel universe with Marvel’s Avengers. Marvel’s Avengers might look like the films right now, but down the line, we could see it diverge in unpredictable
