Rage 2 Easter Eggs: where to find the wasteland’s best kept secrets and references

Fair warning, although none of the Easter Eggs contain huge spoilers for Rage 2 and its campaign, there may be some minor ones to be aware of. Furthermore, by completing this mission players earn access to a secret bunker in the south-east side of the Torn Plains. Memoirs of Magic is a free fantasy RPG made in the Doom engine

Created in GZDoom, Memoirs of Magic is both a testament to the power of the Doom engine, and the skill of the many developers who have contorted it into all manner of unlikely things. As you might expect, Memoirs is at heart a first-person shooter where you pepper critters with bullets, magic missiles, and whack them with a variety of unusual melee weapons. It might look friendly, but this colourful FPS-RPG can be pretty mean, throwing nasty enemies in your general direction nearly from the star

This mod makes DOOM an Animal Crossing style game with named monsters and wholesome dialogue

Doom demons have it hard. But this ‘Mr Friendly’ Doom mod aims to give those demons a break, as it replaces all the shooting with talking, providing each hellish monster with a name, and giving you free reign to just chill out and explore. With Doom Eternal coming out soon, this wholesome mod could be exactly what you need to balance out all the demon-murdering you’ll be doing on Earth. By the looks of it you’re going to be blasting demons in the face in some all-too familiar surroundings, and w

Sigil, John Romero’s spiritual successor to Ultimate Doom, is delayed again

Sigil, the John Romero-authored "unofficial spiritual successor" to Ultimate Doom that was announced late last year, has been pushed back yet again. It was originally supposed to be out in February 2019, but was delayed into April because of problems with the planned physical release. The good news for fans is that the Sigil megawad is finished, and will still be free for everyone once it's out. I can’t release the free version until the Beast Box ships. For any practical purposes, it doesn't ma

This mod makes Doom a literal corridor shooter

"All Doom Levels are Straight Line now" says the description for Linear Doom. This self-described "jokewad" by modder DeXiaZ released on April 1 takes all of Doom's classic levels and tightens them down into one long corridor. There's enough room to strafe a little so you can still potentially dodge those imp fireballs, but otherwise this is just a straight line run through all of Doom's enemies, weapons, and pickups one after the other. I look forward to seeing the speedruns of this. You can do

This Xbox One S deal comes with 7 games, saving you a silly amount of money

No, it’s not an April Fool’s joke - Currys and PC World are selling a 1TB Xbox One S, Doom, Overwatch, Fallout 76, Tekken 7, Project Cars 2, Mafia 3, and Killer Instinct Combo Breaker Pack for £249 (and breathe). That essentially nets you 7 games for only £50 more than the console by itself. While the likes of Fallout 76 and Mafia 3 are arguably flawed, there’s still enough quality gaming in this bundle to make the whole thing worth it. For more, don’t miss our guide to the best Xbox One bundles

Doom Eternal and Rage 2 still headed to Steam despite Bethesda.net

Doom Eternal, Rage 2 and other upcoming Bethesda PC releases will be coming to Steam, the publisher has announced in a tweet. But things have been a bit different recently, with new players Epic and Bethesda's own Bethesda.net launcher entering the fray. The latter was the exclusive home of Fallout 76 on PC at launch, and seemed as if it would be Bethesda's distribution method of choice going forward on PC. But that no longer seems to be the case:We’re pleased to announce that RAGE 2, Wolfenstei

I tried Google’s Stadia, and latency got me killed

Only a few games were being demoed with Stadia, including Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Doom (the 2016 iteration, not Doom Eternal). The problem is that the latency, or simulated latency in this case (more on that in a second), caused me to repeatedly aim past possessed engineers, soldiers, and imps. I think that last bit means 83ms of extra latency being injected to approximate the experience of running Stadia from the cloud during less than ideal conditions. Doom on a Windows PC running at 60 f

Fallout 76, Doom Eternal, Rage 2, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood are all coming to Steam

Bethesda today made what until very recently would have been a strange and entirely unnecessary announcement—all of its big upcoming games, plus one that's already out (Fallout 76) will be released on Steam. We’re pleased to announce that RAGE 2, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, and DOOM Eternal will be released on Steam as well as https://t.co/p0BARqmTBp. We will also be bringing Fallout 76 to Steam later this year.March 25, 2019This is noteworthy first and foremost as reassura

Bethesda bringing Rage 2, Doom Eternal, Fallout 76, and more to Steam

Players who are interested in Bethesda titles like Fallout 76 have been exclusively launching those games through the Bethesda Store, as the publisher hasn’t made the game available on platforms like Steam. The Bethesda Store will continue to operate, and will offer upcoming titles like Rage 2, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, and Doom Eternal. Fallout 76, the games-as-a-service take on Fallout, will also be coming to Steam later in 2019. We will also be bringing Fallout 76 to S
