Here’s an in-development look at setup in the upcoming Xbox Avatars update

Microsoft has been talking about the overhaul of Xbox Avatars for a while now, but it looks like the wait will be coming to an end 'soon.' During E3 2017, Microsoft teased that Xbox Avatars would be getting more inclusive and more customizable. The trailer that came with the tease (above) included new outfits, items, hair, and color choices, as well as prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs, and more. The update is expected to release this fall, but Windows Central's Jez Corden is teasing that's it's com

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Doesn’t Support VR

Rumors have been circling about Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s virtual reality support for quite some time. In a new interview, Webster now explains that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will not support VR after all. Star Wars Battlefront received a Rogue One VR DLC mission that put players in the pilot’s seat of an X-Wing. But on a positive note, Star Wars Battlefront 2 could benefit from the lack of VR. Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released on November 17 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Freeways is a deceptively simple game about building roads

Optimize for efficiency and avoid traffic jams.” It’s a simple premise, but having spent some time with it myself, I can tell you Freeways quickly becomes difficult. The goal is to build your three-by-three road network as efficiently as possible by avoiding redundant connections, unfeasible turns and overlong roads. Freeways tells you what roads need to be connected but doesn’t even mention how you should go about connecting them. There's room to experiment, and you really have to think about h

How to disable the Bixby key on your Galaxy S8 (although Samsung doesn’t want you to)

If you're a Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus or Galaxy Note 8 owner, then one of the most irritating things about your phone has just been addressed by Samsung: you can turn off the physical Bixby button on the side. Early versions of the Samsung Galaxy S8 pair allowed users to re-map the key to perform other functions, but that function was removed because Samsung wanted to make sure users got the 'full Bixby effect', and so ensured the button could only be used to launch its smart assistant. How to t

Ubisoft: South Park: The Fractured But Whole skin tone slider is a joke, not tied to difficulty

It recently came to light that South Park: The Fractured But Whole has a skin shader that is tied to the game's difficulty. Well, at least that is what was believed after a playthrough of character creation hit the web. As it turns out, the skin tone slider simply controls the skin tone - not the game's difficulty as well. Cartman tells you as much during character creation that the choice you make "doesn't affect combat. It doesn't affect combat difficulty or any other aspect of gameplay diffic

iPhone 8 hate? One of Apple’s biggest partners is ripping on ‘iPhone X’

There's a very good chance the iPhone 8 and iPhone X launch won't include Qualcomm, Apple's business-partner-turned-legal-opponent in 2017. It makes the modem chips in some versions of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7S Plus, but now it's just making (and throwing) shade at Apple for its lack of innovation. It's also about to catch up with its own iPhone augmented reality solution for iOS 11 and introduce a bezel-less design on the iPhone 8. iPhone launch events haven't really given us something that wo

South Park: The Fractured But Whole difficulty slider also changes your skin color

As with many videogames, South Park: The Fractured But Whole includes a slider that players can use to adjust the difficulty level. But as reported by Eurogamer, this slider doesn't just make the game easier or harder, it also adjusts the color of your character's skin: The higher the difficulty, the darker your skin tone. Interestingly, it's Cartman, normally the most wildly (if obliviously) offensive character in South Park, who points out the impact of the change. I do feel reasonably safe in

Ark’s Jesse Rapczak says launching from Early Access doesn’t mean the work is done

"You know, it feels weird because we still plan to work on the game," Jesse Rapczak told Steven at PAX West, speaking of Ark's launch from Early Access at the end of August. "While it feels good," he said, "we still feel like we got work to do." Along with improvements to the base game, Aberration is in the works, an expansion that brings survivors to a hostile alien world with no atmosphere where the safest place to be is deep underground. Aberration will be along sometime in October of this ye
