cnbc wrote a new post, Samsung Electronics expects near 50% annual jump in operating profits for Q1 2017, on the site GoGame.com 2 years ago
Samsung Electronics said on Friday it expects a nearly 50 percent annual jump in first-quarter operating profit but did not breakout performance by business unit. Revenue for the quarter was expected to be approximately 50 trillion won, up 0.44 percent annually. But the guidance failed to shore up investor confidence on Friday as Samsung shares declined 0.96 percent in early trade. Data from IHS Markit showed Samsung was the dominant market player in both DRAM and NAND flash memory businesses la

I don’t see a castle or a palace just a basic, bland space station. This is Stationeers, the new game from Dean Hall’s studio RocketWerkz, a small project with a hardcore niche in mind. But as Dean Hall explains it to me I start to see. Space Station 13 is a top-down, round-based, multiplayer game where people take on a multitude of roles aboard a space station and try to keep it running. But this time, with Stationeers, Hall believes he has cracked it.

Steel Division: Normandy 44 comes out on 23rd May 2017. The beta runs from now until the launch of the game. It’s an ultra hardcore WW2 real-time strategy game with some 400 units, all of which are said to be historically accurate, as well as a real-world setting based on aerial reconnaissance photos taken of Normandy during WW2. There’s 10 v 10 multiplayer and a full cam

Candy Crush Saga developer King is making a mobile Call of Duty game. The Swedish mobile giant, who was acquired by Activision to the tune of $5.9bn in 2015, just made the Call of Duty announcement on its official site. “Our challenge as a team is to create a Call of Duty experience on mobile that will strive to transform the best console experience fans know and love, while also breaking new ground for mobile and redefining the genre,” King stated in its reveal. “Our approach and ambition is to

They say the trick to applying makeup is to make it look like you’re not wearing makeup at all. By the same token, the trick to animating faces in a video game is to make them not look like horrifying ventriloquist dummies. Mass Effect: Andromeda’s facial animations failed this test, with its eerie peepers offering a constant reminder that you’re venturing through a simulated universe. As you can see in the following video by Push Square, the new shader makes eyes less glossy. Let’s just be grat
Still, the restrictions are worth keeping in mind for those of you who purchased the Japanese version of Puyo Puyo Tetris in order to play it early. As noted on Sega’s Japanese website, Puyo Puyo Tetris videos can’t be uploaded to any site in which the poster can receive monetary compensation. That said, people are allowed to upload Puyo Puyo Tetris videos to their “personal and non-profit blog.” Cracking down on Puyo Puyo Tetris streams seems like a strange approach for a couple of reasons. Before Bulletstorm Steam launch, G2A makes a public commitment to this: Within 30 days, G2A Shield (aka, customer fraud protection) is made free instead of a separate paid subscription service within terms offered by other major marketplaces. Free-to-play action-RPG Marvel Heroes Omega is coming to PS4 and Xbox One this spring, developer Gazillion has announced. The isometric action affair has been available for three years on PC, but this will mark its console debut. An Xbox One closed beta is planned as well, though no details have been announced. When Marvel Heroes Omega launches on console it will have 38 playable characters across a nine mission campaign. The game won’t be cross-platform, so you won’t be able to transfer save da

Up until now all we’d seen of id Software’s PC-exclusive competitive FPS Quake Champions was a brief trailer crammed full of split-second slices of gameplay, but now we have a whole two minutes of uninterrupted footage depicting a typical round in the arena shooter. As you can see, it all moves very fast, something that should come as no surprise coming from the studio behind the recent Doom reboot. Where Doom seemed like a mix of old and new, Quake Champions looks a little more conventionally o
eurogamer wrote a new post, Scorpio made simple: the next Xbox’s tech explained, on the site GoGame.com 2 years ago
Last week, Digital Foundry’s Rich Leadbetter travelled to the Microsoft campus in Redmond for an exclusive deep dive on the tech powering the next Xbox console, codenamed Project Scorpio. Scorpio was only using 60-70 per cent of its resources to run this demo. Microsoft has made a commitment that (unlike PS4 Pro) all improved Scorpio modes for games must be available regardless of the display that’s connected. Hmm, maybe…OK, how about this: Scorpio will run absolutely all Xbox One games better
With today’s reveal of the tech behind Project Scorpio, we now know what is inside the next Xbox. Project Scorpio represents a fresh start for Xbox and Microsoft’s console ambitions after the relative failure of the Xbox One. And it’s this trend Microsoft hopes to reverse with Project Scorpio, which promises to out-muscle the PS4 Pro when it comes out later in 2017. There’s more to the why of Project Scorpio than that, of course. But one thing seems clear: Project Scorpio will be more expensive
Spotify is “seriously considering” an unusual public listing of its shares, rather than a traditional IPO in which shares are sold to the public, sources told CNBC on Thursday. Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that the music streaming service is considering a direct listing, in which the company would simply register its shares on a public exchange and let them trade freely. With a typical initial public offering investors buy shares from the company prior to IPO. A direct listing diffe

The retail industry’s pain is being felt by its massive workforce. About 2,880 stores have closed year to date, compared with 1,153 at the same time last year. Almost 30,000 retail workers lost their jobs in March, and more than 60,000 jobs have been eliminated since January. Some 58,500 retail jobs were added from March 2016. While stores are still a crucial piece of retail — accounting for some 90 percent of the industry’s sales — Chen analyzed how many stores several major chains should close

As Fox News finds itself embroiled in another high-profile sexual harassment scandal, journalist Gretchen Carlson stressed the drawbacks of secret forced arbitration clauses in employee contracts. “We’re fooling our culture to think we’ve come so far,” she told the Women in the World conference on Thursday in New York City. Due to these arbitration clauses, which Carlson described as “pervasive,” many sexual harassment claims stay under wraps. Since settling her sexual harassment lawsuit against

The typical American retires at age 62. His wife, Kaisorn , joined him in early retirement in 2016 at age 38. “Neither of us ever reached a six figure salary, with my salary topping out at $69,000 and [Kaisorn’s] at $74,000,” Justin writes on his blog, Root of Good, which explains how he saved more than $1 million in 10 years to retire

For one thing, the Fed could buy up most of the companies in the S&P 500. That includes well-known names like Viacom, Clorox and Expedia. On the other end, the Fed’s spending spree could purchase the top 10 companies: everything from Apple to Wells Fargo. But the Fed maybe should have wound down its balance sheet years ago: A previous CNBC analysis showed that in December 2015, it could have afforded the 14 biggest companies in the index. The Fed’s balance sheet is around 24 percent of U.S. GDP,

4A Games has said previously that Metro Exodus will be more open than the previous games in the Metro series, but it won't be a completely open world like that of Stalker. For one thing, individual levels in Exodus will be much larger than anything seen in the previous games. The biggest outdoor level in Last Light was roughly "200 meters to 100 meters," Prokhorov said,. That means everything from weapons, attachments, and other loot, to "frozen stories" that reveal more about the game world and

Devil May Cry 5 is real, it stars Nero, and it's coming in spring 2019. Don't worry, the teaser ended with a quick appearance from original Devil May Cry protagonist Dante as well. But still, nice of Microsoft to give Nero and friends a great big stage to do their debut on, right? Oh, and one last thing: despite the fact that Microsoft now owns Ninja Theory, which developed DmC: Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 5 is being built internally at Capcom. We'll just have to wait and see what Ninja Theory
In an ad for Borderlands 3 on Twitter earlier this month players spotted a shotgun with the damage type "radiation". In previous Borderlands games there have been various damage types like explosive and slag, but radiation is a new one. The new “element” damage type, which is like a nuclear radiation effect, has a similar effect to slag (increased vulnerability by those affected) and also has a damage-over-time component." In Borderlands 2 hitting an enemy with slag doubled the amount of damage
