  • The curious case of South Africa, however, has been decidedly different. The recent and sudden ouster of South Africa’s respected finance minister, Pravin Gordhan – coupled with rising political instability that may yet force President Jacob Zuma from office prematurely – have sent the country’s risk premiums soaring. The turmoil prompted ratings agencies S&P and Fitch to downgrade South Africa’s sovereign rating from BBB- to BB+, to speculative or “junk” levels, with a negative outlook. Althoug

Amex, like all credit card companies, desperately needs new customers each year, preferably ones with decades of spending ahead of them. “Traditionally, American Express succeeds because of its customer service,” said David Robertson, publisher of the industry newsletter The Nilson Report. In the last three calendar years, investors sank $823 billion into Vanguard funds, the company says. The scale of that inflow becomes clear when it is compared with the rest of the mutual fund industry — more than 4,000 firms in total. The model has been a powerful one: Since 1976, fees on Vanguard funds have fallen to about 0.12 percent from about

Most experts recommend setting aside 10% or more in a tax-advantaged retirement savings account, such as a 401(k) plan. Have your employer do a payroll deduction or have your money taken out of your checking account and sent straight to your retirement account. Those shares, based on Facebook’s stock value on the dates of the sales, would be worth more than $5 billion. All of the sales were done using a 10b5-1 trading plan, which executives use to

Earlier this week, Facebook said that it had deleted 30,000 fake accounts in France, which, as Reuters points out, was well timed: France’s presidential election is in about 10 days. Then on Friday, Facebook posted again about its efforts to fight spam accounts, this time in the form of automated Facebook “Likes” and comments generated by bots. “This effort c

It found that not one publisher reported earning more money through Instant Articles than they did through their own properties. Viewed in this light, Instant Articles had simply replaced one kind of view with another, less profitable one. Two years later, it’s increasingly clear that Instant Articles won’t resolve publishers’s anxieties about building sustainable businesses. Wher

Metro Exodus is bigger than 2033 and Last Light combined

4A Games has said previously that Metro Exodus will be more open than the previous games in the Metro series, but it won't be a completely open world like that of Stalker. For one thing, individual levels in Exodus will be much larger than anything seen in the previous games. The biggest outdoor level in Last Light was roughly "200 meters to 100 meters," Prokhorov said,. That means everything from weapons, attachments, and other loot, to "frozen stories" that reveal more about the game world and

Devil May Cry 5’s coming in spring 2019 and it stars Nero, Dante, and a wise-talking mechanic

Devil May Cry 5 is real, it stars Nero, and it's coming in spring 2019. Don't worry, the teaser ended with a quick appearance from original Devil May Cry protagonist Dante as well. Oh, and one last thing: despite the fact that Microsoft now owns Ninja Theory, which developed DmC: Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 5 is being built internally at Capcom. We'll just have to wait and see what Ninja Theory
