Call of Duty Modern Warfare Update 1.10 Removes Fan Favorite Modes and Playlists

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare recently released its big Season 1 update, giving fans of the popular first-person shooter new maps, modes, and more to try out. However, it’s not all good news when it comes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Update 1.10, as the update has removed some fan favorite game modes and playlists to make room for some of the new content.

As of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Update 1.10, the fan favorite mode Gun Game is no longer available in public playlists. Players can still play it in Private matches, but that’s it. Shoot House 24/7, meanwhile, has been replaced by Crash 24/7. The Gunfight Tournament mode is also gone, with no word on when or if it will be coming back to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

In the meantime, Infinity Ward has added a completely new game mode to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare called Reinforce. And as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1 rolls along, even more new modes will be added to the game. These will include Gunfight OSP and Infected, though it’s unclear when they will be added to the game.

Limiting the number of match types and playlists at any given time is likely Infinity Ward’s way of not spreading the community too thin. However, there are some game modes that fans will always be sad to see taken out of the lineup, and Gun Game is certainly one of them. It’s possible some of these more popular match types will become permanent additions in the future, though that remains to be seen.

While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be cycling certain game modes in and out, the map list should only grow. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Update 1.10 added the classic Call of Duty 4 map Crash to the game, in addition to new Gunfight maps Cargo and Atrium. The new Ground War map Port is also available for fans to try, and these haven’t been added at the expense of other maps in the game.

Infinity Ward has promised to update Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on a weekly basis throughout Season 1, so we may see some of the removed modes and playlists return sooner rather than later.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
