Apex Legends’ new map is shaking up the meta

World's Edge is a breath of fresh airWorld’s Edge carries forward season two’s theme of nature running rampant over the Apex arena. Respawn confirmed it is definitely bigger than King’s Canyon, but not exactly so big that it dwarfs it. Dotted across World's Edge are some massive landmarks that draw your focus to new biomes. Remember the open slopes near the southern river in King’s Canyon and how vulnerable those felt? We were able to play more angles than the comparatively tight lanes of King’s

Cube World’s infinite fantasy landscape is infinitely boring

I didn't expect much from Cube World, but it still bums me out. Cube World gets right to it, dumping my lovingly crafted dwarf warrior into a small village with zero pageantry. Besides a lack of tutorials explaining crafting, combat basics, and any goal whatsoever, there's not much mystery or allure to Cube World's cube world. In Cube World, it's just a world of cubes. For a minute, I get a whiff of exhilaration, imagining what Cube World could be.

What it’s like to go to college on an esports scholarship

And in terms of rigor, esports players practice as much as traditional college athletes, sometimes up to six hours a day. At UCI, and the majority of other colleges with esports programs, esports players don't have that luxury, because they aren't classified as athletes. Without developer funding, it would be nearly impossible for collegiate esports groups to offer students esports scholarships. Without solid and consistent university funding, these esports programs are completely reliant on spo

Crypto is Apex Legends’ answer to aggressive players

It’s only my tenth time playing as Crypto, the newest character in Apex Legends, and I’m going up against pro competitors seven years my junior. For a game that’s so focused on aggression, Crypto feels zeroed-in on support, and it makes Apex a bit more enjoyable for a Mercy main like me. Crypto becomes stationary (think Overwatch’s Junkrat and his tire) while the drone can fly anywhere in a pretty impressive radius. If someone destroys the drone, you’ll have to wait about 10-15 seconds for it to

My Hero One’s Justice 2 smashes onto PC in 2020

It's really rather good, and its first tie-in game (the clumsily titled My Hero One's Justice) wasn't half bad either. Today, Bandai Namco Entertainment formally announced My Hero One's Justice 2, a 3D fighter developed by Byking and coming to consoles and PC in 2020. The original game, while short, was a fun tag-team fighter, letting you switch between your three chosen heroes mid-match and run around freely in third person. There's no release date for My Hero One's Justice 2, but it should be

First unveiled on Sony's State Of Play stream, publisher Techland has officially announced Arise: A Simple Story today, and confirmed that it's headed to PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive on December 3rd. There's no details on how it'll play yet, but judging by the announcement trailer below there's no denying that it looks great. Perhaps not the most original concept now, but the trailer hints at some interesting scenarios, with some scenes shown multiple times but with noticeable differences

Razer upgrades its Huntsman Elite keyboard with a faster key switch option

This is the same switch Razer introduced with its recently launched Huntsman Elite Tournament Edition. Both the purple (clicky) and red (linear) key switch options are optical switches, or "opto-mechanical." Rather than use metallic contacts like a traditional mechanical keyboard switch, optical switches enable actuation via light. The Huntsman Elite originally shipped with a clicky optical key switch, with a 1.5mm actuation point requiring 45g of actuation force. The Huntsman Elite is available
