Acer’s $20,000 Predator Thronos gaming chair is now available in Europe

If you've been following the weird and wonderful world of PCs for the past couple of years, you probably remember the Acer Predator Thronos, the extreme gaming 'throne' packed with a gaming PC and up to three gaming monitors. Well, that's the case if you're in Europe at least, where you'll have to pay at least €18,000 (about $20,130, £15,800, AU$29,070). Acer custom manufactures the Predator Thronos for individual consumers, a process that takes anywhere from 6-8 weeks to complete. There's clear

Jon Bernthal talks about how he’s a wolf in a new Ghost Recon Breakpoint trailer

Google announced today that Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be one of the games available on Stadia, its game streaming service coming later this year. That means we get a new trailer for the open world shooter, which you can watch above. The trailer doesn't tell us much that we didn't know, providing some background on the game's villains, The Wolves, who are led by actor Jon Bernthal (presumably he's not playing himself, actor Jon Bernthal, but I can hope). For more on Breakpoint, check out Andy's

Retro shooter Amid Evil’s final episode comes out in two weeks

There's been a lot of big news today—Baldur's Gate 3, Stadia, Destiny 2 F2P—but there are other things happening, too. Things like, for instance, the announcement of a release date for The Void, the seventh and final episode of the Heretic-inspired FPS Amid Evil. In many ways, despite the obvious Doom-and-Heretic differences, Amid Evil is a lot like Dusk: It's very retro, extremely good, and goes to some really weird places in the later stages of the game. I won't spoil anything, but I will say

Stadia 4K streaming will use up 1TB of data in 65 hours

But I'm focused on the streaming requirements, and specifically video bitrates:Google says it can provide a steady 60fps 4K stream with a bitrate of 35Mbps. That's the high end of the streaming requirements, while 1080p at 60fps drops the bandwidth to 20Mbps, and 720p 60fps requires just 10Mbps. That works out to around 15.75GB per hour of 4K streaming, 9GB per hour of 1080p, or 4.5GB per hour at 720p. Even with a 1TB data plan (which is what I have from Comcast), that's 65 hours of streaming pe

Razer’s new gaming headset weighs just 250 grams and costs $50

The new Kraken X weighs just 250 grams (0.55 pounds) and costs $49.99 (€59.99). We will be able to answer that question very soon—a Kraken X is en route to us, and will be putting it through its paces. For reference, the Kraken Tournament Edition and Nari Ultimate, two of the best gaming headsets, both use larger 50mm drivers. We typically prefer standalone mics, but in this case, Razer claims it has a "tight pickup pattern" that suppresses noise from the back and side. The Kraken X is available

You can cram four SSDs in this add-in card for a ridiculously fast storage solution

Nevertheless, if you're willing to spend a bunch a money on four of them, you can get blazing fast file transfers with this new add-in card from Asus. The new Hyper M.2 x16 Card (V2) is actually a retooled version of the one Asus released a couple of years ago. Fully loaded, this PCIe 3.0 x16 card can transfer data at up to 128Gbps (theoretical maximum).
