How Destiny 2 Gunsmith Bounty Enhancement Core Rewards Will Work

Over the last few months, there has been a debate within the Destiny 2 community regarding enhancement cores and the game’s infusion system. While Bungie has been steadfast in its stance that enhancement cores force tough choices when it comes to infusion, many players feel it is restrictive and the sources for enhancement cores in Destiny 2 are too few.

Bungie’s plan is to introduce new Gunsmith bounties for Destiny 2 with the Season of Opulence (Season 7) that will guarantee an enhancement core, as well as a few other useful items. However, after complaints that the enhancement core solution was not good enough, the Destiny 2 developer also has made some tweaks to that initial plan, so that players will be able to more easily acquire enhancement cores and infuse their weapons up to the current power level cap.

Originally, Destiny 2 players were going to have to spend gunsmith materials to purchase these Gunsmith bounties, but Bungie has changed the cost to Glimmer. Requiring gunsmith materials seemed like an odd choice given that there are so many other uses for the currency, but a switch to Glimmer makes sense.

As far as the bounties themselves, Bungie says that there will be multiple daily Gunsmith bounties available for Destiny 2 players to purchase. Upon completion, each bounty will reward the player with 1 enhancement core and 2 mod components. Those mod components can be spent at the Gunsmith for his weapon and armor mods, or you can take them to the Black Armory vendor, Ada-1, and buy some of the new weapon mods introduced with the Season 5 DLC.

In addition to the daily Gunsmith bounties, there will also be a weekly bounty available that rewards 1 enhancement core and 1 mod for either a Destiny 2 weapon or armor piece. Bungie says these bounties will also offer reputation or rank points, depending on what the objective is. So, for example, if the objective asks the player to get kills in Gambit, then the bounty will reward Infamy points. The only rank points these bounties won’t offer are Glory points for the Crucible Competitive playlist.

While it does sound like these bounties will have players completing objectives in Destiny 2’s various modes, no specific examples were given to indicate how complex these bounties may be. Some bounties in Destiny 2 are fairly quick, while others, especially the weekly bounties, can require a time investment.

As well, Bungie says that the details of these Gunsmith bounties can change based on player feedback. Even just between the initial announcement and now things have changed.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
