Improbable’s first RPG is being built by former BioWare, Capcom and Ubisoft devs

Worlds Adrift, built using Improbable's SpatialOSThe first game developed by Improbable, the creator of the multiplayer cloud-based platform SpatialOS, will be an online RPG but "not an MMO", and is being made by a team that includes former BioWare, Capcom and Ubisoft employees. “We’ve got a lot of great folks with diverse backgrounds, not just some BioWare folks, although we have those. Folks from Ubisoft, folks from Capcom, that have come over and are helping us build what’s going to be an RPG

What did you play last week?

I think I might play this one alone for fear of being That Guy. The idea that "robbing" yourself of a challenging experience is some kind of moral failing is a strange idea, wrapped up in "there's one true way to play games" nonsense. What did you play last week? Has anyone else fallen for the charms of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, or given No Man's Sky a go in VR? If so, don't play a Nosferatu or a Malkavian, that's my hot tip.

Borderlands 3 co-op partners won’t compete for loot, unlike in Borderlands 2

Borderlands 3 co-op players won't have to argue over loot after every firefight, unlike in Borderlands 2, Gearbox Software's art director Scott Kester has announced. In Borderlands 2, players had to fight over the spoils: when a good gun dropped, whoever reached it first got to keep it. But in Borderlands 3, players will see separate loot, which means you can grab and sort through it at your leisure. It sounds like the game will be more flexible about who you can play with in co-op, too. You'll

Great moments in PC gaming: Breaking demos for extra play

Great moments in PC gaming are short, bite-sized celebrations of some of our favorite gaming memories. Since these only came around every month or so, that meant squeezing as much value out of them as possible. The best moments were when a demo proved more generous than its creators had intended. The king of these demos however was Robocod, the better known sequel to Amiga/ST platformer James Pond. Like Legends of Valor, the Robocod demo offered access to a small part of the world—the first two

A Shazam! sequel could go almost anywhere — as long as it’s weird

This is a perfectly normal sentence for Shazam stories, because comics are awesome. Like a real life caterpillar, Mind made a chrysalis and metamorphosed into a giant, universe-consuming moth monster that could travel through time. Again, another perfectly normal sentence for Shazam comics. Another famous DC supervillain was alluded to during Shazam!, as the Wizard told Billy the story of an “ancient champion” who held the power of Shazam but became corrupted. It could even completely sidestep M

Latios returns to Pokémon Go for a Special Raid Week

Latios is returning to Pokémon Go raids for a week, starting from April 15 at 4 p.m. The Eon Pokémon is returning with the possibility of appearing Shiny, similarly to how his sister, Latias, did in February. This means that Latios will be sharing tier five raids with Origin Forme Giratina for a week. While pitting his sister, Latias, against him is kind of sad, she also serves as a pretty good counter. Shiny raid Pokémon have an 100 percent catch rate, provided that you don’t miss all your ball

Creating the perfect PokéRap with all 812 Pokémon names

Ever since I heard the original PokéRap, the song that played at the end of every episode of the original Pokémon TV series, I was obsessed. I explained the process — the shortcomings of the original PokéRap and how to fix those shortcomings — that allowed me to create the perfect PokéRap. Though I ran into some difficulties near the end of the panel, the audience helped me fulfill my contract and perform the perfect PokéRap in its entirety. Over the course of the show, I realized the truth abou

Puzzle game Photographs tells surprisingly poignant human stories

Photographs is a narrative puzzle game that journeys through five tragic stories. Each of the five tales you play through in Photographs begins with an optimistic introduction to a main character. I get glimpses of their life through photographs and voice overs that help me learn about their motivations and ambitions. Photographs’ puzzles ease me into each of these stories and act as vehicles to help me understand each character. What I didn’t expect was how the game would use my time with each
