Bayonetta is $5 on Steam until Tuesday

You can pick up Bayonetta, one of the best action games on PC, for just $5/£3.75 on Steam until Tuesday. If you haven't played it yet, you absolutely should: Phil gave it 93/100 in his review, and it's still on out list of the top 100 PC games. It'd be a good one to play if you just finished Devil May Cry 5, I reckon. The daily deal lasts until 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm GMT on Tuesday, so you have a couple of days to capitalize. PlatinumGames released Bayonetta in 2009 but, as Durante wrote for us when

Dead Cells developer ‘looking into’ releasing games on Google Stadia

The developer of Dead Cells is "looking into" releasing its games on Google's Stadia streaming service, which was announced earlier this month. He also revealed that the Dead Cells dev team were "not planning on stopping anytime soon" with extra content, following the huge, free Rise of the Giant update this week. The studio will release another update in the summer, and plans to add new levels to Dead Cells later in the year, he said. Motion Twin has not decided whether these updates will be fr

Popular games subreddit shuts down for a day with frank post about ‘awful comments’

But the moderators over at r/Games, a subreddit with over 1.7 million subscribers, decided to take a different approach this year. According to the people who oversee the community, it’s time to talk about a pervasive problem poisoning discussion on the internet at large: comments. Either people don’t want to talk about real-world issues in video games, or they can’t discuss it civilly without concerns about doxxing, swatting, and harassment campaigns. Video games have felt like an angry, intole

A Pikachu wearing Ash’s hat is photobombing in Pokémon Go

A rare Pikachu sporting Ash’s original hat from the anime is appearing in Pokémon Go. To get this cute little behatted Pokémon, you simply have to take a photo of a Pokémon in AR+ mode. Seeing him will also spawn the Ash hat Pikachu. Based on player reports on the Silph Road subreddit, it also seems like you can only encounter five Ash hat Pikachu per day, whether you catch them or not. According to the Silph Road subreddit, players in other countries are still getting the special event Pikachu

Sekiro’s animation does away with Dark Souls’ style of combat

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a punishing game, though that’s something you’d expect from the developer of the Dark Souls series and Bloodborne. That’s something that wasn’t possible in most of the previous games — Dark Souls 2 used to allow animation canceling, but it was mostly patched out — and it makes a world of difference. This is how it works: If you begin an attack in Dark Souls 3, and you miss, you have to wait until the entirety of the animation plays out before you can dodge or block t

Minecraft with path tracing almost looks like Minecraft 2

It's Minecraft, but not as we know it. The latest build of popular shader pack Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders (SEUS) implements path tracing, a rendering method similar to ray tracing, and the results are stunning. It looks better in videos than in screenshots—almost like Minecraft 2.0. Messing around a bit moreyou can do indirect lighting and stuff now pic.twitter.com/X8q3msBen7March 30, 2019Naturally, getting visuals this good out of Minecraft requires a powerful set-up. Watch 20 minutes of The Outer Worlds combat, featuring a baton that shrinks enemies’ faces

Obsidian showed off 20 minutes of live gameplay from their highly-anticipated RPG The Outer Worlds at PAX East yesterday. We got to see humorous dialogue, two companions and plenty of combat—including a baton that shrinks and enlarges enemies' faces when you whack them. In The Outer Worlds, you can kill anyone, the developers explained. I'm still not convinced by the gunplay, which looks floaty, but the weapons seem fun, not least the Mandibular Rearranger. The Outer Worlds is set to launch on t

Yakuza Kiwami 2 rated for PC

Yakuza Kiwami 2 has received an ESRB rating for PC, suggesting a release announcement is incoming soon. The game initially came out on PS4 in Japan in 2017, and it's a remake of 2006's Yakuza 2 in the Yakuza 6 engine. When it arrives on PC, you should probably hold off until you've first played Yakuza Kiwami, which came to PC last month—and before you play that, you should jump into Yakuza 0, which is arguably the best in the series. Yakuza Kiwami 2 continues the story of Kazuma Kiryu, and you c
