Egress is a neat looking battle royale focused on Souls-like combat

The inevitable Souls-like battle royale has arrived in the form of Egress, and while it's still very much in-development, it shows a lot of promise. In keeping with the Bloodborne comparisons, Egress takes place in an "alternate universe combining the Victorian era" and "Lovecraft's mythology". Rather than the traditional closing circle of a battle royale game, Egress takes place in a multi-leveled cityscape harried by rising flood waters. According to the footage below, it looks like each game

Driverless cars explained: everything you need to know about the futuristic tech

If driverless car tech will truly reduce the rate of accidents , car companies will want to push this tech forward. Businesses clearly seem to think it’s only a matter of time before driverless cars are on the road. The exception to this rule is Phoenix, Arizona, where Waymo has been testing self-driving cars without safety drivers on public roads. Volvo is testing driverless cars and buses in Stockholm, Sweden. In the Netherlands, Amber Mobility plans to launch a Zipcar-like service of electric

PUBG’s Savage map, now called Sanhok, will resume testing this Thursday

PUBG's 4x4km map, codenamed Savage, has a new round of player testing coming soon, as well as a new name. It's called 'Sanhok' now, and if you're wondering why, I'll explain in a moment. The player testing will begin Thursday, May 10, at 7 pm Pacific time, and run until Monday, May 14, at 4 am Pacific. From that inspiration, and by combining the Thai word for “fun”, สนุก (pronounced sah-nook) and the Tagalog word for “chicken”, manok (pronounced mah-nok), the official name of the map, Sanhok, wa

I made teams of video game heroes and villains play each other in Super Mega Baseball 2

I've seen those things, and more, in Super Mega Baseball 2, after I created a team of video game good guys and pitted them against a team of video game bad guys. I started by using Super Mega Baseball 2's character customization tools to create a bunch of gaming protagonists. With Andrew Ryan sneering on the mound for the Antagonists, Guybrush Threepwood steps to the plate and promptly singles to right. In the fifth inning Andrew Ryan is sent to the Vita-Chamber for a shower, replaced by Borderl

The Council episode 2 goes live next week

The first episode came out on March 13 and it was really quite good, and today Focus Home Interactive announced that episode two will be out on May 15. The biggest knock against The Council (so far, anyway) is the voice acting, which ranges from passable to just... not good. The abundance of unpredictable consequences is what makes The Council so interesting. We took a closer look at how The Council "makes conversation feel as meaty as combat" last week. You can find out more about the game on S

Hearthstone’s 10 greatest (and most obnoxious) one-turn kill combos

Some combos were always destined to remain fringe, often because they were too difficult to pull off to ever truly be oppressive. So I remember when Handlock decks all carried an OTK combo in the form of Leeroy + Power Overwhelming + Faceless. See, the various Shudderwock OTK decks never actually got to a point where their win-rates were high enough to really influence the meta. 1: Patron WarriorMake no mistake, Patron Warrior was the most skill-intensive deck Hearthstone has ever seen. Special

Overwatch players are earning Play of the Game for killing robot gondoliers

The beautiful canal city recently made its way to Overwatch in the form of Rialto, a new Escort map. Like the Venice of the real world, Rialto's canals are filled with gondolas piloted by lovely striped-shirted gondoliers, though in Rialto's case, the gondoliers are all omnics—the sentient robots of Overwatch's world. Through some sort of bug, killing an Omnic gondolier seems to invisibly count as scoring an elimination. As such, stringing together a handful of kills is causing the game to award
