Smite now has a limited kart-racing mode, because of course it does

Smite, the third-person MOBA which pits a motley crew of gods and deities against once another in brutal hand-to-hand combat, now has a cute kart-racing mode. Or at least, it does for a little while: Apollo's Racer Rumble is a limited game mode which is available from now until May 9. There are two tracks – one set on Elysium Beach and another in the doomy depths of Molten Pass – and the mode supports up to eight players online. Each of the tracks is strewn with relics (or Mario Kart-esque power

New BioWare Edmonton Game is Destiny Meets The Division

Even though Electronic Arts is once again holding its own show during E3 as they did last year, the company is planning to show off a number of games including the latest IP from the original Mass Effect team at BioWare Edmonton codenamed Dylan. According to Robertson, BioWare is currently working on a massive sci-fi inspired game that represents EA’s attempt to tap into the MMO-lite market, currently held by games like Destiny and Tom Clancy’s The Division. Details are of course slim, though it

GR Pick: Fan Made Last of Us Part 2 Start Screen is Perfect

One of the most iconic moments of 2013’s The Last of Us was the first time players booted up the game and were treated to John Sweeney’s beautiful start screen. Just the simple serenity of the window somehow captured so much of the game’s essence, even without showing anything. Now, a fan made start screen for The Last of Us: Part 2 has surfaced online, and it’s every bit as beautiful as the first one. After completing the image, Hill added the UI overlay to make his work seem indistinguishable

Destiny: How to Beat the Oryx Challenge in the King’s Fall Raid

[UPDATE: With King’s Fall being brought up to light level 390, we are reposting our Challenge Mode guides for any Destiny players that may need assistance. It’s early Tuesday morning and that means two things for the Destiny population: a new week of Strikes and Weekly bounties to complete and a brand new challenge for the King’s Fall raid. This week, Destiny rolls out its final raid challenge, the Oryx challenge. So far no one has beat the Oryx challenge but plenty of Destiny die-hards are tryi

This is an amazing collection of retro Japanese pixel art

Two or three times a year, I lose an hour to the pixel art bliss of a tumblr called Noirlac. Since 2010, the tumblr blog has been devoted to posting pixel art from (mostly) Japanese games, adding up to an amazing and eclectic archive of thousands of pieces. Others are static backgrounds from visual novels or the cutscenes of Japanese games. You could get lost appreciating the pixel art of Noirlac's archive for weeks. Part of me loves the mystery of Noirlac posting pixel art of Elvira and a lands

Banks scramble to fix old systems as IT ‘cowboys’ ride into sunset

In 2013, Hinshaw launched a new company COBOL Cowboys, which connects companies to programmers like himself. Of the 20 "Cowboys" that work as part-time consultants many have reached retirement age, though there are some "youngsters," Hinshaw said. Experienced COBOL programmers can earn more than $100 an hour when they get called in to patch up glitches, rewrite coding manuals or make new systems work with old. For their customers such expenses pale in comparison with what it would cost to replac

Trump and global leaders urge Russia to break ties with Syria’s Assad

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has called on Russia to realign itself with the U.S. and break its alliance with Syrian President Bashar Assad. "It is clear to us the reign of the Assad family is coming to an end," Tillerson said shortly before leaving for Moscow, according to Re
